Espresso Shirt
I am interested the ephemeral conditions placed upon our clothing; how our activities manifest themselves through the marks, dirt & stains on the things we wear.
This project celebrates stained clothing.
The field is printed with one-color: silver metallic ink on shirts of various light hues. They will be numbered by hand.
Each t-shirt will have one shot of espresso spilled on its front.
Combined with the printed design, each shirt is intended to be unique works of art.
I am looking for a partner, preferably a coffee shop, to help realize this project: contact@kevinbyrd.com
Why do we love “new” clothing any ways?
To defy marks of wear is to perhaps deny the heavy use associated with manual labor, thus signifying a belonging to the leisure class. I want to flip this social and economic condition by presenting the act of dirtying as an elemental ingredient to one’s clothing. A stained shirt becomes the desirable fashion al a mode.
